Unincorporated Durham County Residents
Durham County operates four Solid Waste Convenience Sites that offer drop-off service for recycling and the disposal of residential trash, white goods, and yard waste. Residents must display a current 2016-17 Solid Waste Decal in order to use these services. Solid Waste Decals are now issued on a fiscal year basis and were included with your 2016 real estate tax bill which was mailed in August 2016. The 2015-16 decal is now expired. The 2016-17 decal is valid from July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017. Residents had a 1 month grace period from the time the tax bills were mailed to begin using the new 2016-17 decal. As of September 8, 2016, all residents who wish to use the "decal only" services must display the GREEN 2016-17 solid waste decal. Renters can request a decal from their landlord. If you have lost your decal or have additional questions, contact the Durham County Tax Office at 919-560-0300. The 2016-2017 Solid Waste Fee is $158.81.
The Convenience Sites do not accept commercial waste or construction and demolition waste.
Bulky Item loads are limited to 1 dump per week. Big items such as furniture and cabinets should be broken down BEFORE arriving at the site.
No dual wheeled vehicles or trailers.
Trailers may not be longer than 8 feet with side rails no higher than 4 feet.
Motor Oil is limited to 10 quarts per week.
Site Attendants may limit yard waste loads in times of high activity in order to preserve space for all customers.
